Also spelt Qi Gong, Chi Kung is an ancient Chinese practice that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention to promote the flow of chi (energy) through the body.
Literally meaning 'energy exercise', Chi Kung is known as an internal martial art (to master the self).
Refined over hundreds of years by Chinese Taoist & Buddhist practitioners who discovered our bodies are filled with energy pathways which can often be blocked, Qi Gong builds up & releases that flow of natural energy which is dormant within us.
By practising relatively easy exercises, joint mobilisation and standing postures to increase stamina, and training to release tension, we can start to cultivate and refine our energy, rather than running into nervous exhaustion.
It is a balanced approach to understanding our internal nature & our relationship to the cosmos.
This class is for anyone who is curious about finding ease and integration in their movement and posture. Through somatic movement enquiries and invitations you will unravel awkward movement patterns or uncomfortable postural habits and discover greater ease and expression of movement.
