We believe that yoga and meditation offer tools which can be used by anyone to support them in daily life, empowering people to live their life more fully by enhancing physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and wellbeing, increasing self-awareness and encouraging a sense of community. We feel it is even more important during this period where we are less physically connected to connect with each other through the marvels of technology, and to connect with ourselves.
In Sanskrit, the Indian language of yoga, Yoga means 'union'. Satyam means 'truth'. Yam is the bija mantra (a one-syllable sound) of the heart centre. Yam also translates as "to move, to set out...to find out". Therefore by offering the sanctuary of a focused space within which to come together, Satyam Yoga seeks to support the movement towards wholeness, the unfoldment of truth within a person's heart.
Satyam Yoga Wellbeing Centre is a joint venture of Jo and Paul Darking. As a long-term yoga practitioner and a yoga teacher, for many years Jo had a vision of setting up a community yoga centre in her hometown of Cambridge, creating a dedicated space where people can come together to discover and enjoy the many benefits that yoga brings. Finally in 2016, all of the necessary ingredients came together: the right venue, the essential funding and the time, dedication and perseverance to navigate through all of the obstacles that such a venture involves. Jo and Paul are hugely excited and honoured to have opened Satyam and hope that it will make a positive contribution to the lives of all who pass through its doors.
