Saturday March 23rd, 6.30pm - 8.30pm
with Nicky Smith
This is an opportunity to let go of stress, tension, anxiety and relax into the body, feeling energised & uplifted. Using the Ecstatic Dance method we will move through four stages: Warm up, Shake, Ecstatic Dance & Relaxation Grounding. Each stage invites you to connect with yourself however you are feeling. We use music, breath & movement to support transformation & open to our full potential. No experience is necessary, no dance steps to learn. Wear loose and comfortable clothing. Bring a bottle of water.
About Nicky Smith
Nicky has loved music and movement all her life. Dancing from a young child she discovered freedom in movement and went on to discover the benefits of yoga as a teenager. After injuring her back in a bike accident & having tried many approaches, some of which helped temporarily, she discovered Pilates. After a year of regular practise, her back strengthened and she could, once again, engage fully in life. Nicky realised the importance of body work and the connection of mind, body, spirit. She has been attending embodied movement classes for 15 years and is now qualified to teach Ecstatic Dance. She runs regular classes in Cambridgeshire. Nicky is also a qualified Meditation & Mindfulness Teacher, working with children, teens and adults and has had her own regular practise for over 25 years. She is certified to facilitate Mindfulness Based Addiction Recovery sessions, is NVC Certified, has a CENTRA Certificate in Person Centered Counselling Skills, is an Indian Head Massage Therapist and Reiki Level 2 practitioner. She recently completed a course in Body Psychotherapy and hopes to continue this in the future. Nicky has also trained with Mike Moran, Llyana Vilensky and more recently with Tim Wheater in Sound Healing and is a certified practitioner. Nicky has worked for many years with people who have mental health challenges, physical & learning difficulties and other marginalised groups.
