Qi Gong - 6 Week Course Next block starts in January with Lisa Norman
This 6 week block of classes will explore Chi Kung (氣功), also spelt Qi Gong - an ancient Chinese practice that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention to promote the flow of chi (energy) through the body.Literally meaning 'energy exercise', Chi Kung is known as an internal martial art (to master the self). Refined over hundreds of years by Chinese Taoist & Buddhist practitioners who discovered our bodies are filled with energy pathways which can often be blocked, Qi Gong builds up & releases that flow of natural energy which is dormant within us. By practising relatively easy exercises, joint mobilisation and standing postures to increase stamina, and training to release tension, we can start to cultivate and refine our energy, rather than running into nervous exhaustion. It is a balanced approach to understanding our internal nature & our relationship to the cosmos. This block of classes will go through a few different styles of which to get a feel for some of the different forms of chi kung. Each session will end with a deep relaxation.
