The Restoration Hour happens every Friday evening at Satyam Yoga Centre. Each week will see either a Yoga Nidra (Deep Relaxation) session, a Gong Sound Bath, a Yin Yoga, a Restorative Yoga or a Deep Rest Meditation session. All of these practices are entirely floor-based and draw on the power of stillness and rest, which can be a powerful way to unwind from a busy week and open yourself to the possibility of the weekend ahead.
We will also be having some guest teachers coming to lead the sessions, so do keep your eye on the timetable.
Gong Sound Bath with Lizzie Cutmore or Jo Gough
In a sound bath, Gong, crystal bowl and other instruments are used to create an enveloping soundscape into which you can release your worries and responsibilities and float in the sea of supportive sound. The vibrations of the instruments resonate deeply within the body, both in the physical and energetic planes and can be powerful healers in their own right. During each session, a unique sound experience is created and offered with pure intent for healing and your highest good. There is always a period of silence at the end of a sound bath, holding essential space for the vibrations to integrate and settle. Dates:
Bolsters, cushions, eye pillows and blankets are all provided to create a warm, nurturing and restorative experience.
Yoga Nidra with Jo Darking
In Yoga Nidra one is systematically guided through different levels of relaxation, leading to a state of 'sleepless sleep.' In this state one is able to experience physical and emotional relaxation and healing and to access deeper states of consciousness. This guided meditation is accessible to all. Practitioners lie down comfortably, with blankets, cushions and bolsters as appropriate and simply follow the teacher's voice. There are different styles and traditions of yoga nidra and we will be offering opportunities to experience a range. Dates:
Deep Rest Meditation with Carolyn Pallon
Resting back & opening, softening, feeling into the deeper knowing beneath our busyness, below the pressure & demand. A chance to start to notice the endless chattering of the mind, the stories we tell ourselves and to discover a different place: quiet, spacious & nourishing, a peacefulness that is always there. A brief talk, followed by guided meditation with a space for reflection and enquiry at the end.
Moving into Stillness with Essential Oils with Rachael Moore
Ease your way into the weekend by moving into stillness . We will ease into the body with some slow movement coaxing into a state of rest and relaxation with restorative postures. The practice will be complimented by the addition of specially selected essential oils to enhance the bodies and minds ability to let go and relax ......
Yin Yoga with Janine Tandy
This session will focus on how to transition the mind and body from moving through a busy week, for many of us spent in continuous momentum with to-do lists and obligations, shifting to the weekend, which allows us to honour a different approach to how we spend our time in terms of inner landscape and the more outwardly physical aspects of the body.
