Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a very gentle hands on treatment. It is done through clothing, usually lying down. It is extremely safe, suitable for all ages and can benefit a wide variety of conditions. It aims to augment the body's own health and to restore health to areas that may be tense, contracted or not working at their full potential. Most people find a craniosacral treatment to be extremely relaxing. A CST session involves a short consultation followed by 30 – 40 minutes of treatment. You will be asked to remove your shoes before lying down but otherwise remain fully clothed. You can be covered with a blanket.
Herbal medicine, or phytotherapy, is a holistic system of healthcare based on the traditional use of herbs to promote health, combined with a modern scientific understanding of plants, disease and diagnosis. It is a holistic approach where the practitioner seeks to gently support and encourage the body's own ability to heal itself with the aid of natural therapies and to identify and correct the underlying cause(s) of poor health. Herbal medicine can be used for a wide range of conditions and for any age. A session involves a detailed consultation, which may include taking pulse and blood pressure readings, or other physical examinations as may be required, followed by discussion and recommendations. It is extremely helpful if you can bring with you details of any medication you are on and any current or past treatments or diagnoses.

Wednesdays 9.30 - 17.30 |Clinical Psychology for Children, Young People & Families| with James Fairbairn
James is a Clinical Psychologist and has worked since 2002 within the NHS specialising in the mental health of children and families. Over the last 7 years James has been the lead psychologist within a specialist in-patient and day patient service for young people with complex and severe mental health problems. James currently works for the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families.
James’ experience covers treatment of a wide range of mental health problems that children, young people and families can face, including: parenting and parent - child relationships, developmental difficulties, anxiety, depression, self-harm, trauma, and challenges in adjusting to life events and changes.
James uses a range of evidence-based approaches to treatment depending on the person and the problem. His work is influenced by an approach called ‘systemic practice’, in which the relationships with and around the person coming for help, are seen as particularly important in moving forward. James’ work will often include time with people who are important in the person’s life, as well as with the person coming for help. How this happens depends on the individual and the difficulties they are facing.
The first meeting with James focuses on beginning to understand the difficulties. The next step being to discuss together whether further work may be helpful. If so, we would then discuss the different options for this. Working together will usually focus on intentions or goals that are developed by those coming for help, with regular reviews of these and progress towards them.
James is registered with the the British Psychological Society as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and with the Health Care Professionals Council. Please see here for his professional qualifications http://linkedin.com/in/dr-james-fairbairn-4430a51a

These treatments are deeply relaxing, allowing stress and tensions to be released. Working on the mind, body and emotions, physical symptoms are addressed alongside deeper issues. Benefits experienced can include better sleep, reduced anxiety and depression, increased energy and improved focus . High quality essential oils are used which also promote healing and relaxation.
Massage for Women - Suitable for women at any time outside pregnancy and the postnatal period. Working with the rhythms and cycles of womanhood, these treatments help promote calm and balance. Acceptance of where you are on your female journey, embracing the changes, challenges and joys will help you find your way both physically and emotionally. Self care is vital, and taking time to look after yourself will benefit you and those around you.
Pregnancy Massage - Pregnancy is an exciting time of change and growth but can also present challenges. Honouring this season in your life and choosing to nurture yourself as well as your baby will benefit both of you. Massage helps alleviate the physical symptoms of pregnancy including back ache, pelvic pain and oedema. The benefits of relaxation during pregnancy are widely acknowledged - reducing anxiety, headaches, blood pressure and improving sleep. Nourishing the skin with luxurious oils also helps as it stretches to accommodate your baby. A special time to connect and bond with your baby.
Postnatal Massage – Motherhood is often amazing, but exhausting. This is a time when women can really benefit from massage but so often put themselves to the bottom of the list. Giving lots of time and energy day and night to nurturing your little one, you need a little nurturing yourself. Following birth and at any point during the first year, massage helps with back ache, shoulder and neck tension – from carrying and feeding - pelvic stability and circulation. Deep relaxation is hugely beneficial during these treatments.
All treatments with Julia may be purchased as a gift and a voucher will be provided.
Relational body psychotherapy with Louise Parker Lord
About Body Psychotherapy Body Psychotherapy follows talking therapies in that the client and therapist work together to develop trust, allowing stories from the past and present to unfold and be heard. This helps us to develop a greater awareness of ourselves and to increase our range of options for responding to how our lives evolve. In addition to talking therapies, body psychotherapy offers ways to gain greater awareness of our body, finding our own ways to listen deeply to ourselves and exploring bodily methods of supporting ourselves. Some examples of this include: breathing, a technique called body reading, gestalt work and, only when a client is comfortable with it, touch. Every session is different and is co-created with the client and with like talking therapies, is of course confidential.
Body Psychotherapy can help with a range of issues. You may find a need for support during life’s transitions, for example: the beginning or ending of a relationship, becoming a parent or following a loss or other turbulent life change – be it positive or negative. You might simply be feeling stuck and in need of some support to help bring about change or perhaps you may feel a creative block. Body Psychotherapy can help with stress, depression, anxiety and other mental discomfort.
