Schia is a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist and Medical Herbalist. She has long been fascinated by natural healthcare and how we can assist our body's own desire for health. Coming from a science background, she loves the fact that both craniosacral therapy and herbal medicine combine science with experience. Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a very gentle hands on treatment. It is done through clothing, usually lying down. It is extremely safe, suitable for all ages and can benefit a wide variety of conditions. It aims to augment the body's own health and to restore health to areas that may be tense, contracted or not working at their full potential. Most people find a craniosacral treatment to be extremely relaxing. A CST session involves a short consultation followed by 30 – 40 minutes of treatment. You will be asked to remove your shoes before lying down but otherwise remain fully clothed. You can be covered with a blanket.
Herbal medicine, or phytotherapy, is a holistic system of healthcare based on the traditional use of herbs to promote health, combined with a modern scientific understanding of plants, disease and diagnosis. It is a holistic approach where the practitioner seeks to gently support and encourage the body's own ability to heal itself with the aid of natural therapies and to identify and correct the underlying cause(s) of poor health. Herbal medicine can be used for a wide range of conditions and for any age. A session involves a detailed consultation, which may include taking pulse and blood pressure readings, or other physical examinations as may be required, followed by discussion and recommendations. It is extremely helpful if you can bring with you details of any medication you are on and any current or past treatments or diagnoses.

Fascinated by the interplay between physical, mental, and emotional health, Vanessa certified in 2020 as a Biodynamic Massage Therapist through the Cambridge Body Psychotherapy Centre. She combines a solid understanding of the human body and its functioning, with a straightforward and warmly compassionate approach. Interested in medicine, health and healing since childhood, Vanessa sometimes combines biodynamic massage therapy with techniques from other processes, including yogic, shamanic, and mindfulness practices.
Biodynamic Massage Therapy is a truly holistic massage practice. The entirety of your life - physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual- is experienced in and through your body. Thus each treatment is an exploration, not only of any pain, trauma, tension, stress, or other states of dis-ease in the body, but the stories, held in skin and fascia, muscle, bone, fluid and energy fields, that may be connected to that particular state.
It is suitable for almost everyone, whether you are living with a chronic condition (IBS, constipation, CFS, fibromyalgia, migraines, depression/anxiety), have difficult to diagnose symptoms that defy standard treatments, or if you're just feeling a bit frazzled and in need of some good self-care and a deeper connection with your body.
In the first appointment, we will briefly discuss your life and medical history, as well as any current physical, mental, emotional or spiritual 'issues' that concern you. All sessions and anything discussed are strictly confidential. No oil is used on the skin (but please wear comfy, loose-fitting clothing). A stethoscope is placed on your abdomen to listen to peristaltic sounds, which can help guide the treatment.
Biodynamic massage therapy is interactive, and cumulative in effect. Although a single treatment can be restorative in itself, real shifts in the bodymindspirit are best served by a sequence of sessions, where the relationship between therapist and client can deepen toward attunement and trust. A fixed number of sessions is a good starting place; six sessions (ideally weekly) is usually recommended. I'm quite flexible and happy to accommodate other requirements including single sessions, so please do get in touch for a friendly and informal chat to discuss what might work for you.

These treatments are deeply relaxing, allowing stress and tensions to be released. Working on the mind, body and emotions, physical symptoms are addressed alongside deeper issues. Benefits experienced can include better sleep, reduced anxiety and depression, increased energy and improved focus . High quality essential oils are used which also promote healing and relaxation.
Massage for Women - Suitable for women at any time outside pregnancy and the postnatal period. Working with the rhythms and cycles of womanhood, these treatments help promote calm and balance. Acceptance of where you are on your female journey, embracing the changes, challenges and joys will help you find your way both physically and emotionally. Self care is vital, and taking time to look after yourself will benefit you and those around you.
Pregnancy Massage - Pregnancy is an exciting time of change and growth but can also present challenges. Honouring this season in your life and choosing to nurture yourself as well as your baby will benefit both of you. Massage helps alleviate the physical symptoms of pregnancy including back ache, pelvic pain and oedema. The benefits of relaxation during pregnancy are widely acknowledged - reducing anxiety, headaches, blood pressure and improving sleep. Nourishing the skin with luxurious oils also helps as it stretches to accommodate your baby. A special time to connect and bond with your baby.
Postnatal Massage – Motherhood is often amazing, but exhausting. This is a time when women can really benefit from massage but so often put themselves to the bottom of the list. Giving lots of time and energy day and night to nurturing your little one, you need a little nurturing yourself. Following birth and at any point during the first year, massage helps with back ache, shoulder and neck tension – from carrying and feeding - pelvic stability and circulation. Deep relaxation is hugely beneficial during these treatments.
All treatments with Julia may be purchased as a gift and a voucher will be provided.

Body Psychotherapy | Louise Lord Through body psychotherapy we can gain greater awareness of our bodies, through breathe work, body readings and finding ways to explore and connect without words and if it feels right – touch can be possible too. As we store much of our experience and our emotions within our bodies, gaining a bodily awareness of what we carry within can help our minds become more conscious about patterns of thought and action, so giving us more choices and perhaps allowing more pleasure, ease and creativity.
Body Psychotherapy can help with a range of issues. You may find a need for support during life’s transitions: the beginning or ending of a relationship, becoming a parent or struggling with this, following a loss or other turbulent life changes. You might simply be feeling stuck and need some support to bring about changes in your life or your creativity may be blocked. Body Psychotherapy can also help with stress, depression and anxiety and other mental health issues. I offer short and long term work on the basis of weekly appointments. We would start with a short telephone interview to be followed by an initial interview. I am eager for my practice to be accessible so offer some discounted sessions and a sliding scale. Please contact Louise for further information. Mobile: 07834 526300 Email:louiseparkerlord@gmail.com
