ABOUT BODY PSYCHOTHERAPY
Body Psychotherapy is an holistic form of psychotherapy and works towards enabling individuals to be more whole by
bringing body, mind, emotions and spirit together. Body Psychotherapy seeks to create a safe space in which a
relationship of trust between therapist and client can grow and deepen. Because this is not a social relationship but a
relationship that focuses on your needs, it becomes therapeutic. It is through this safe relationship, that a new sense
of yourself can develop, enabling you to make new choices and live life in new ways. As you begin to relate to
yourself with kindness, you’ll notice changes to your relationships with others.

Body Psychotherapy can support you to:
~ Learn to process strong emotions like anger and fear, guilt and shame which may be disrupting your current
life
~ Explore the lessons such strong emotions may be holding for you
~ Explore relationship patterns built up through your lifetime, which may be causing you distress and
unhappiness
~ Live through grief and heartbreak and find your way to the other side
~ Manage a sense of overwhelm, explore it roots and work towards a state of calm and clarity
~ Work through feelings of hopelessness and depression to discover new levels of vitality and joy
~ Explore the emotional challenges brought by new life stages such as pregnancy, parenting, menopause, and
changing family relationships.

Body Psychotherapy assumes that any problems or difficulties will have a physical counter-part.  As well as
affecting how you are feeling, anxiety, stress, and trauma will have physical symptoms.  Body
Psychotherapy has an array of methods to explore the unspoken communications of the body. A session
can involve talking whilst sitting in chairs; it might involve lying down and exploring relaxation methods or
exploring gentle exercises and movement; it can include using art materials and guided imagery work;
objects or cushions may be used to represent people in your life as we explore patterns of relationship. If it
feels right for you, Biodynamic Massage may be introduced. As earliest form of human connection and
communication, touch can be a gentle yet powerful way to access the messages of the body.
As your therapist, I will accompany you as we explore together the ways you’ve developed to manage Life’s
challenges. Sometimes although these strategies may have protected you in the past, they may be undermining
your full happiness and well-being in your current life.

Rolfing is a system of deep tissue touch and movement education which helps people find more balance and ease in their body and daily activities and relationships. Developed by Ida Rolf in the mid 20th Century, Rolfing works in the fascial network of the body and systematically addresses patterns of tension and imbalance. These imbalances arise because of repeated movements, postures, work demands, trauma and other life experiences.
Working with a Rolfer® helps people to have more stability, adaptability, reach, balance and grace. Breathing and walking become easier and more nourishing.  The many benefits from Rolfing include

  • Reduced chronic pain or discomfort.
  • Improved performance for athletes, yogis, dancers, musicians.
  • Preparing women's bodies before pregnancy to accommodate changes, and helping women realign after pregnancy and birth.
  • Helping adolescents grow into their new bodies and selves.
  • Supporting people following or anticipating a big life shift, accident, surgery or illness .

Rolfing ® initially takes place over approximately ten sessions to evoke profound change in the tissues and nervous system. Clients can then return for further exploration if there is a need. Rebecca works by having an introductory session with clients and then, if you both decide to work together, to journey through the Ten Series (approx 10 sessions). Rebecca is passionate about helping people to experience meaningful change and a deeper embodied understanding.  She gently educates clients to find their own resources - resources to find freedom, grace and stability outside the treatment room and throughout their lives.

Pregnancy is an exciting time of change and growth but can also present challenges. Honouring this season in your life and choosing to nurture yourself as well as your baby will benefit both of you. Massage helps alleviate the physical symptoms of pregnancy including back ache, pelvic pain and oedema. A special time to connect and bond with your baby.

She combines these skills to offer holistic treatments based on the needs of the individual. She is qualified in Massage, Aromatherapy and has completed Well Mother training.

Louise Parker Lord - Creative/Relational Body Psychotherapy
Thursday afternoon/evening in The Wellbeing Room

Contact: [email protected]
Body Psychotherapy is therapy plus. Just like conventional therapy, client and therapist work together to develop trust, allowing experiences from past or present to be heard in a confidential space. Plus, through body psychotherapy we can gain greater awareness of our bodies through, breathe work, body readings and finding ways to explore and connect without words and if it feels right – touch can be possible too – I practice a method called postural integration and also utilise creative and imaginative approaches.  As we store much of experience and our emotions within our bodies, gaining a bodily awareness of what we carry within can helps us become more conscious about patterns of thought and action, so giving us more choices.

Body Psychotherapy helps with a range of issues. Perhaps you need for support during life’s transitions: the beginning or ending of a relationship, becoming a parent, or struggling with this, following a loss or other turbulent life events? You might be feeling stuck and need some support to bring about changes in your life or your creativity may be blocked. Body Psychotherapy can also help with stress, depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues.

You are welcome to contact me by phone (text/ what’s app or call) or email to arrange a short complementary phone call to explore options: Email: [email protected] / Mobile: 07834526300

Vanya - Soft Tissue Therapy
Sunday 9am-2pm in The Wellbeing Room
Assessment and treatment in 60min/90min appointment
To make a booking email: [email protected]

Qualified Massage/ Soft Tissue Therapist and a member of ISRM – Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage

Vanya has been a passionate practitioner of holistic massage since 2004, with experience in a wide range of methods, techniques and energy linked modalities, i.e. Full body Classical Massage, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Aromatherapy, Reiki, Energy Healing, Clinical Sport, and Remedial Therapy.

Soft Tissue Therapy is a combination of a range of techniques to treat and rehabilitate the soft tissue of the body, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and connective tissue.  It can benefit injuries, pre/post operation recovery, joint issues, long term, and general health issues, as well as postural problems and muscle tension and imbalances.
Using a unique combination of all these modalities she creates a therapeutic treatment, infused with reiki, individualized, and designed to resolve related health issues, restore the body’s natural processes by rebalancing.  A session may range from performing a gentle, relaxed treatment to more advanced therapeutic soft tissue therapy to target painful areas, to simply holding a healing touch procedure.

A strong art background, together with an understanding and knowledge of anatomy and physiology allows her to address the pain and stress of the body in a holistic and insightful way, giving the client a bespoke and restorative experience.  She is interested in mind, body and spirit connection and finding the balance of the energy flow in the body.
Sessions are, in effect, two way, as effort and cooperative work in a sensitive and sympathetic way is involved to get to the root of the problem and to find ways to address it. In this way, she provides effective pain, stress, and anxiety relief, whilst boosting wellness and long-term recovery. Post treatment advice and recommendations are given to clients on specific stretching and strengthening exercises etc. and support to facilitate self-help.

About Biodynamic Massage

Working biodynamically is working with the body’s natural inbuilt intelligence. It can be hard to find time, energy and understanding to let our body heal from both physical and emotional health conditions. Biodynamic massage techniques work directly with the autonomic nervous system to help the body self-regulate. By being able to self-regulate and return to homeostasis, the body has a wider resource to be able to move towards whole, combined physical and emotional, health.
Biodynamic massage can be a helpful complementary therapy for those with psycho-physiological or stress related symptoms such as headaches, aches and pains, anxiety, insomnia, depression, arthritis, post-traumatic stress as well as autoimmune disorders. It’s also for those who feel ‘a bit under the weather’ or that something isn’t quite right, but where there is an absence of diagnosable disease.
By rebalancing the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, the client may feel:
-        Relaxation
-        Vitalisation
-        Release of muscular tension
-        Pain relief
-        Relief of internal emotional pressure
-        Increased body awareness
-        A more ‘natural’ breathing pattern.
Unlike other forms of massage, Biodynamic Massage techniques do not work to make changes to the body. Instead, the therapist uses techniques to invite and encourage the body to let go of tension and emotional pressure. By inviting rather than manipulating, the client begins to feel a stronger sense of self and a deeper connection with themselves which, in turn, helps them to cope and maintain inner stability through life’s challenges.

About Esme

The connection with the client and working with what the client brings and needs that day as well as in the longer term is why I get so much joy from this work.
I love the journey that the client and I take together, being curious about where the massage takes us, always within what is comfortable for the client. Exploration is always with gentle curiosity and with the wellbeing, privacy and safety of the client remaining centre stage.
For me, being able to facilitate a client’s own self-discovery whilst treating a psycho-physiological condition or stress related symptoms is an honour and no session is the same.

I adhere to the Association of Biodynamic Massage Therapist’s (ABMT)  ethics. I am the Ethics and CPD Officer for the ABMT committee and I am currently training as a body psychotherapist.
